राज्ञः पुत्रा महात्मानश्चत्वारो जज्ञिरे पृथक् ।
गुणवन्तोऽनुरूपाश्च रुच्या प्रोष्ठपदोपमाः ॥

अन्वयः

गुणवन्त: endowed with every good quality, अनुरूपा: worthy, रुच्या in brightness, प्रोष्ठपदोपमा: resembling Purva Bhaadra, Uttara Bhaadra stars, महात्मान: highly noble, राज्ञ: King's, चत्वार: four, पुत्रा: sons, पृथक् successively, जज्ञिरे were born In this manner.

Thus were separately born four high-souled sons to the king, crowned with qualities, and graceful, and in loveliness resembling the constellations Prosthapada.* Thereat the Gandharvas began to chaunt sweetly, and the Apsaras to dance. And the celestial kettledrums sounded; and there showered down blossoms from the sky. *Otherwise called Uttarabhadrapada and Purvabhādrapada.

Summary

Four worthy sons were successively born to the noble king (Dasaratha), endowed with all virtuous, resembling purvabhadra and uttarabhadra stars in brightness.
