५.३९.७

इहैव तावत्कृतनिश्चयो ह्यहं; यदि व्रजेयं प्लवगेश्वरालयम् ।
परात्मसंमर्द विशेषतत्त्ववि;त्ततः कृतं स्यान्मम भर्तृशासनम् ॥

अन्वयः

अहम् I, इहैव here itself, तावत् therefore, परात्मसम्मर्दविशेषतत्त्ववित् by understanding the difference between the strength of enemy forces and our strength in war, प्लवगेश्वरालयम् abode of vanaras, व्रजेयं यदि if I go, ततः then, मम my, भर्तृशासनम् the orders of my lord, कृतम् executed, स्यात् well.

Although my sole commission was to effect this much, (i.e. see Sita) yet if I repair to the abode of the lord of monkeys after having ascertained the strength of our ownselves and that of the foe in the field, then I shall have done the mandate of my master.

Summary

'If I ascertain the difference in the strength of enemies and vanaras in war here itself and return to Kishkinda, the abode of vanaras, then I would have executed the orders of my lord properly.
