न भूम्या कार्यमस्माकं न हि शक्ताः स्म पालने ।
रताः स्वाध्यायकरणे वयं नित्यं हि भूमिप ।
निष्क्रयं किंचिदेवेह प्रयच्छतु भवानिति ॥

अन्वयः

भूमिप O Ruler of the earth, भूम्या with earth, अस्माकम् for us, न कार्यम् have nothing to do, पालने in ruling, न हि शक्ता: we are not capable, वयम् we, नित्यम् constantly, स्वाध्यायकरणे in studying of vedas, रता: हि are dedicated indeed, भवान् you, इह in the matter of this offering, किञ्चित् whatever, निष्क्रयम् in lieu value, प्रयच्छतु may confer.

You alone are worthy to protect the entire world. We do not want the earth; nor can we rule it, being, O lord of Earth, constantly engaged in Vedic studies. Do you, therefore, confer upon us something instead, as the price thereof.

Summary

"O ruler of the earth We are constantly engaged in the study of the Vedas. We are not capable of ruling the earth and we cannot do anything with its possession. Give some other charity in lieu of that.
