अहो तम इवेदं स्यान्न प्रज्ञायेत किंचन ।
राजा चेन्न भवेँल्लोके विभजन्साध्वसाधुनी ॥

अन्वयः

अहो how great, राजा a king, साध्वसाधुनी good and evil actions, विभजन् showing the distinction, लोके in the world, न भवेद्यदि if it were not to happen, इदम् this, तमः स्यात् would be darkness, किञ्चन even a little, न प्रज्ञायेत could not have been known.

M N Dutt

If there were not a king in this world to adjudge fair and foul, darkness would overspread (the face of the earth) and people could not distinguish anything whatever. As the ocean keeps within its continent, we even while the monarch lived, did not disregard your words.

Summary

If the king did not show the distinction between the good and evil actions, this world would have been enveloped by darkness. Nothing could have been seen. How great (is the king)?
