सा प्रयाता महासेना गजवाजिरथाकुला ।
दक्षिणां दिशमावृत्य महामेघ इवोत्थितः ।
वनानि तु व्यतिक्रम्य जुष्टानि मृगपक्षिभिः ॥

अन्वयः

गजवाजिरथाकुला teeming with elephants, horses and chariots, सा महासेना that vast army, उत्थितः that has arisen, महामेघ इव like a lofty cloud, दक्षिणां दिशम् southward, आवृत्य having spread, मृगपक्षिभिः with birds and beasts, जुष्टानि visited, वनानि forests, व्यतिक्रम्य traversing, गङ्गाया: river Ganga's, परवेलायाम् on the other side, गिरिष्वपि through mountains also, नदीषु च and streams, प्रयाता proceeded.

And that mighty host abounding with horses and elephants proceeded, blocking up the southern quarter, like a colossal cloud arisen (in the sky), leaving behind on the other bank of the Gangā woods inhabited by birds and beasts, and coursing by rivers mountains.

Summary

That vast army teeming with elephants, horses and chariots proceeded southward spreading like a lofty cloud that had risen in the sky, traversing through the forests full of birds and beasts, passing through the mountains and streams on the other side of the river Ganga.
