४.४.१०

सुखार्हस्य महार्हस्य सर्वभूतहितात्मनः ।
ऐश्वर्येण विहीनस्य वनवासाश्रितस्य च ॥

अन्वयः

सुखार्हस्य deserved comforts, महार्हस्य worthy of reverence, सर्वभूतहितात्मनः wellwisher of all beings, ऐश्वर्येण by wealth, विहीनस्य deprived, वनवासे dwelling in the forest, रतस्य of a man engaged, भार्या wife, रहिते when we were not present२ २सा she, कामरूपिणा who can assume any form at will, रक्षसा by a demon, अपहृता kidnapped, येन वा or by whomsoever, अस्य his, भार्या wife, हृता has been stolen, तत् that, रक्षः rakshasa, न ज्ञायते is not known

Summary

'This man who should have lived in comfort and in reverence, one who was worthy of all the wellwishers lost his wealth and was banished into the forest. He is now deprived of his wife kidnapped by an unknown demon who could assume any form at will.
