६.५१.७

त्रयाणां पञ्चधा योगं कर्मणां यः प्रपश्यति ।
सचिवैः समयं कृत्वा स सभ्ये वर्तते पथि ॥

अन्वयः

यः he who, सचिवैः ministers, समयम् timely, कृत्वा does, त्रयाणाम् threefold, कर्मणाम् actions, पञ्चधा five aspects, योगम् unites, प्रपश्यति considering, सः he, पधिइव like the path, वर्तते performs.

He stay well in the path that, in consultation with his counsellors, ascertain the five way touching the three kinds of action* *The five ways are (१) the mans of commencing an act (२) person, thing and wealth, (३) division of season and place, (४) providing agains mischance (५) success. The three kinds of action are treaty, war, etc. All this is nebulous; And the commentator is sadly reticent over this extremely important passage.

Summary

He who thinks with ministers and considers the five aspects of threefold duties and moves in the right path performs (Five aspects of action are the method of initiating action, material to be worked upon, time and place of action, provision against mischance and the chances of success). Threefold duties with reference to enemies are Sama, Daana, and Bedha."
